It's inevitable: every time I shoot, I end up with a photo like the one above. Having a subject to focus on adds more visual interest to the shot, I think.

Some snapshots from a recent visit to the Ferry Building, where I ate overpriced (but tasty) dumplings, refused to wait in the long line for Humphry Slocombe (but not for Blue Bottle), weaved in and out of foot traffic, and discovered the most delicious butter toffee almonds I've had to date.
I've been drawn to these little "after" scenes: the just-emptied seats, the remnants left behind, the moment right before the table is cleared. They're candid and unpolished, and they show that sometimes the "after" is better than any staged "before."
